Hermione is a close friend of Todd and I’s who is a highly gifted wedding dress designer based in London. And she has the most exquisite mind of anyone I know. Watching her work is tantamount to stepping into a utopia filled with flowers, chiffon and silk, sprinkled with fairy dust and set alight by these works of art that are her gowns. Shooting ‘Antilamentation’ is a peek into her & Alistair Vlok’s (her partner) imaginations. This is the second film I’ve done with Hermione and Alistair, and I would do a hundred more and still never tire of working with them.

On this occasion, my love Todd came with us. He knew the location well and anticipated some help would likely be needed. Unsurprisingly, he found himself picking up Alistair’s medium format 120mm film camera and shooting all the stills while Alistair shot video. Without a doubt in my mind, these are the most beautiful shots of any shoot I’ve ever done. It wasn’t long after we wed, and it felt ever fitting that the renaissance man I married, was the person to yeild the alchemy of our locale. Stuck in the Mojave, unkind to those unprepared. Generous to those armed with a vision and ample water.
