Marc Jacobs SS19-Queens NY

This wasn’t a direct message I ever expected to see in my requests. A message from “Marc Jacobs”. I thought “well this has be a bullshit account because the official Marc Jacobs account wouldn’t just DM me…would they?” THEY WOULD INDEED! Upon closer inspection and the revelation of the small blue verified tick, a strange modern day status phenomenon, I realzied it was the real MJ and they were asking me to be in their Spring Summer 2019 Campaign. At that point I would’ve eaten my hat had there been one on my head. It’s just not often that a kid from a tiny island nation in the south pacific, that most people think is part of Australia, provided they even know it exists, imagines themselves being in a Marc Jacobs campaign. This is a piece of writing where I could play it cool, pretend like this wasn't blowing my kiwi mind but that would be dishonest. I WAS ECSTATIC. I kind of just couldn’t believe these big dogs wanted this little Collie to throw around her moves in their fabulous clothing. The date was set and I flew to New York, crashing on one of my best friend’s couches with a mere few hours to sleep. I arrived at Rioult Dance Center in Queens bright and early, ready for the makeup artist to erase the eye bags presenting themselves on a day they really could’ve excused themselves. The clothes were the most beautiful things I’ve put on my body, and I danced in a daze as they moved like an extension of my limbs. Toward the end of the day I was plonked down in the middle of the studio, waiting for Leeor to change lenses, and feeling that magical combination of gratitude, elation and disbelief for the moment I found myself in. I could’ve cried…tears of joy. But I instead decided to not forget that wonderful glow of the afternoon sun, reflecting off the mirrors, the music humming, and the feeling of green spotted organza on my skin.
